Details for the New Listener

  • Learning About Gregorian Chant is a recent release from the Monks of Solesmes on Paraclete, and explains the history and development of Gregorian chant, as well as offering many examples.
  • Gregorian Anthology offers a sample of over a dozen discs already issued on Paraclete. Thus it provides an overview of the catalog, and of Gregorian chant compositions spanning the Mass and Daily Office as well as the feasts of the liturgical year. Specifically for chant of the Daily Office and the Feast, are the following two recordings.
  • The Christmas Mass of the Day sung by The Choralschola of Dusseldorf provides a recording of the Mass for a major and favorite feast of the year.
  • First Vespers and Compline sung by the nuns of Mariendonk Abbey rounds out this introductory offering with a complete liturgical office (The Assumption) to the Virgin.
