The main series of Ars Gregoriana discs on this label is devoted to the forms of Gregorian chant. This disc contains nineteen Alleluia verses, selected to represent a variety of settings. Notable are Alleluia Pascha nostrum and Alleluia Cantate Domino, which add a second verse found in medieval manuscripts.
ReviewBy: Fr. Jerome Weber
The cyclic form of this chant (alleluia, verse, alleluia) and the alleluia melisma that is repeated at the end of the verse are superb examples of Gregorian style. An extensive collection such as this makes the structure of this chant even clearer.
